NEW DISH & KLEZMER BAND ADDED TO
JEWISH FOOD AND FOLK FESTIVAL
Chocolate Baby Babkas and Live Klezmer Band added to menu on
Sunday, April 17, from 11am-3pm
The area’s only Jewish Food & Folk Festival is having a baby – Baby Babka! The gender is of the chocolate variety. Babka, featured previously on an episode of the hit TV show Seinfeld, is a brioche-like, twisted yeast cake. The festival will have baby loaves filled with layers of chocolate and topped with streusel.
The Jewish Food and Folk Festival will showcase several New York deli-style dishes and klezmer music on Sunday, April 17, 11am-3pm at Temple Beth-El, 3980 Sonoma Springs Ave., in Las Cruces - rain or shine!
Another new addition includes the Klezmer group from Albuquerque, Di Kavene Kapelye, featuring performances on the clarinet, accordion and fiddle. Guests can also watch or participate in dances performed by the Mesilla Valley International Folk Dancers.
Admission to the festival is $3, kids under 12 are free, and food will be sold at the event. More information may be found at LCJewishFestival.weebly.com.
Available for purchase at the festival will be exceptional pastrami sandwiches on rye, knishes, kosher hot dogs, challah, falafel, matzo ball soup, bagels with whitefish salad, Israeli salad, kugel, chocolate babka, macaroons, hamentaschen cookies, and many more delicacies.
Also at the festival will be a kids’ area with a variety of games and crafts. Festival-goers can listen to live music performed by the temple’s musicians and singers, make bids on silent auction items, and spin a giant bagel for prizes.
This year’s folk festival promises to provide delicious food, fun, and an enjoyable time for everyone! For information contact Aggie Saltman at 575-649-4356 or lcjewishfestival@gmail.com.
