About The Jewish Federation of El Paso

Our Mission

The mission of the Jewish Federation of El Paso is to enhance the quality of Jewish life here and overseas to enable Jewish organizations to provide Jewish-oriented cultural, educational, social, and recreational programs/services; and to raise sufficient funds to accomplish this.

Our mission focuses on the following purposes:

  • To provide our children, grandchildren and young adults with positive Jewish experiences, programs and services so they will be and remain committed Jews.  Through the funding of programs in the community, we seek to the development of knowledgeable, passionate, proud, committed Jews.
  • To provide support for creative and valuable programs of informal Jewish education for people of all ages within our community.
  • To maintain and strengthen our ties and relationships with Israel and with Jews in need wherever they live and to be a strong advocate for Jewish causes and for Israel within our own community and it’s media outlets.
  • To  reach out and welcome all Jews in our community and surrounding areas.
  • To help fund programs that provide traditional care to every Jew who has physical, social, emotional or financial needs.
  • To raise the funds to accomplish our mission.

Our Overseas Partners

The portion of the campaign raised by the Jewish Federation of El Paso dedicated to helping Jews in Israel and other countries is sent to the United Jewish Communities (UJC), the successor organization to United Jewish Appeal.

Money sent to UJC is divided between two distinct groups, the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

The Jewish Agency for Israel brings Jews home from all corners of the world, giving them hope for a better future in Israel.  Whether the challenge is assisting victims of terror or complex rescue operations from countries of distress, the Jewish Agency works to respond to the critical challenges important to all Jews.

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has embodied the principle that all Jews are responsible for one another. Operating in 60 countries, JDC rescues Jews in danger, provides relief for Jews in need, rebuilds Jewish communities and helps Israel address the social challenges of its most vulnerable groups.
