Our Federation will again be giving a very special gift to seventy El Paso preschool children this year. It’s a program called The PJ Library and each month for twelve months we send kids beautifully bound and illustrated Jewish children’s books or DVDs. These will be theirs to use and treasure for years to come and give them the chance to enjoy Jewish melodies and stories. The Federation is seeking to expand The PJ Library by asking the general community to help us identify more eligible children, at no cost to the families. Each child, six months through six years old, who is enrolled will receive a monthly gift of a Jewish book or CD absolutely free*.  We received funding for the first seventy children to register and are anticipating the ability to fund at least twenty more spots. If the demand exceeds the number of spots we have available, we will start a waiting list as we search for additional funds. The PJ Library program in El Paso is funded as a partnership between the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the Jewish Community Foundation of El Paso and the Jewish Federation of El Paso.  To get a child on our list, please call Cheryl Gordon at the Federation office 584 4437 x 14 or visit www.pjlibrary.org. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or friend of someone with young children, please help us share news of this special program with Jewish families throughout the area who have children through age six. If your friends or relatives live elsewhere, we can help you bring The PJ Library to your loved one. Simply send us a check for $60.00 along with the enrollment card and we will register him/her for The PJ Library. If you have any questions, please contact me at the number below. Or if you are in a position to become a PJ funding partner, we welcome all those who would like to participate in passing on the joys of our Jewish heritage.
The leadership of El Paso’s Jewish Federation is thrilled to make this program available in El Paso. The Federation wants even the youngest members of our community to know how much we value them----what better way than through beautiful gifts that teach our Jewish traditions! *If The PJ Library becomes a meaningful part of your family life, after the first 12 months, you will have the opportunity to re-enroll at the greatly subsidized rate of $18 per child per year to help offset costs so others in the community may enroll.
