Jewish Community Relations Council

Guided by democratic ideals and Jewish values, the JCRC provides a forum for the Jewish community to respond to issues of concern through education, advocacy, and civic activity.

Why Our JCRC is Very Important

The JCRC is the public affairs arm of our Federation, affiliated with our national partner, the Jewish Council on Public Affairs (thejcpa.org).

Many people realize that the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) in El Paso facilitates the community’s Israel Independence Day celebrations and Merry Mitzvah food collections. Less well-known is the role our local JCRC plays in responding to speaker requests from the general community and to threats to our local Jewish community, always addressed discreetly and professionally.

The JCRC encourages relationship-building and education, and promotes unity during times of celebration, commemoration and crisis. Guided by democratic ideals and Jewish values, the JCRC provides a forum for the Jewish community to respond to issues of concern through education, advocacy, and civic activity. These include critical activism in terms of public relations with the Hispanic community, schools and churches, textbook monitoring, anti-Semitism and Israel advocacy.
